Errors Opening Office Documents in Microsoft Edge
We have had reports of users experiencing errors when accessing Office documents in the browser using Microsoft Edge. Either an HTTP 404 error appears, or the Word online application opens but displays the message “Sorry, there was a problem and we can’t open this document. If this happens again, try opening the Document in Microsoft Word.” This is a known issue and we expect a fix from Blackboard. In the meantime, the workarounds are described below:
(1) To continue to use Edge:
- Open Edge settings
- Select Downloads
- set Open Office files in the Browser to Off
(2) Use a different browser – Chrome or Firefox
